Halloween is almost here, and if you live in Maricopa County you know we celebrate a little differently: warm days, cool evenings, and trunk-or-treats on just about every block so families can have fun without walking miles in the dark. I have gathered the verified 2026 trunk-or-treat and trick-or-treat events happening across the Valley this Halloween weekend, plus honest guidance on neighborhood hours and Arizona-smart safety tips. I want to be your Realtor for Life, and part of that is helping you love where you live and enjoy this wonderful community.

A note from November 4: Halloween night has passed, and this guide is now an archive of the 2026 trunk-or-treat season for anyone planning ahead. For what is happening in the Valley right now, my November events calendar is freshly updated as of this week with verified dates and links.

When Do Neighborhoods Trick-or-Treat Around Here?

No Valley city sets official, citywide trick-or-treat hours, so each neighborhood sets its own rhythm. Most families across Phoenix metro communities head out right at dusk, around 6 p.m., and wind down by 8:30 or 9 p.m. Many HOA and master-planned communities publish suggested hours in their newsletters or websites, so check yours before the big night. A few cities, including Queen Creek, have a juvenile curfew starting at 10 p.m., so plan to be home well before then.

Community-hosted trunk-or-treats are also popping up for Halloween weekend: in Surprise, a trunk-or-treating car show at American Furniture Warehouse (16600 W. Waddell Rd.) is listed for Friday, October 30, 5 to 8 p.m., and several Peoria churches host free events Saturday evening, including Horizons Community Church on N. 79th Ave. These smaller gatherings change quickly, so please confirm details with the host before you go.

Safety Tips for an Arizona Halloween

  • Check every piece of candy before the kids dig in, and toss anything unwrapped, torn, or homemade from strangers.
  • Glow sticks, reflective tape, and light-colored costume details help drivers see little ones. Bring a flashlight or use the phone flashlight.
  • Our October days are often still warm and sunny, so choose lightweight, breathable costumes, use hats and sunscreen for daytime events, and carry water. Heavy masks get hot and can block vision; face paint is a comfortable alternative for younger kids.
  • Cross streets at corners and crosswalks, use sidewalks, and pause at driveways. Put phones away at crossings and hold little ones’ hands.
  • At trunk-or-treats, treats come from open trunks, so stay in the designated flow, keep kids from reaching into vehicles, and stick to well-lit areas.
  • Hem costumes so nothing drags and choose comfortable, well-fitting shoes for the long walk.
  • Plan your route and a meeting spot before you leave, and have older kids travel in a group.
